Pre Training Skills Audit
Apart from a schedule of training courses, Transmedia can perform a skills audit. This can take the form of a questionnaire issued to staff and analysis of the answers received, as well as exercises issued in a classroom situation, monitored by a trainer, which are assessed afterwards. In a recent example, a national newspaper publisher wanted to move half the staff of a particular department to other duties, but was unsure about which staff members to transfer.
Due to the trust built up over a number of years, the newspaper chose Transmedia to carry out the sensitive task of skills testing. Although to some degree subjective, this helped management to decide which people were suited to a move, in terms of their existing skills, the ability to learn and aptitude for adapting to a new environment. Both unions and staff perceived the tests as fair and independent, and consequently the transfer took place with few problems.
